First reports are coming from the headquarters of Velo Club Oggiono: the 98th Lombardia U23, the classic par excellence in international cycling, will be held on Saturday, October 3rd with start and finish in Oggiono (Lecco). The announcement comes from president Daniele Fumagalli, who with his staff is working daily to deliver a race worthy of the expectations of riders, coaches and spectators.

"We have decided to further raise the difficulty level of our race – explains Fumagalli –. The modification concerns the first part of the route, where we have inserted the Ello climb, from the Oggiono side, to be repeated four times. From there we will continue on the traditional course with the ascents to Ghisallo, Villa Vergano, Colle Brianza and Marconaga di Ello".

The total distance will rise to 177 km, seven more than in recent editions. "Nothing overwhelming – Fumagalli clarifies – but an extra touch that will certainly thin out the peloton from the very start".
A clear signal: the Lombardia U23 wants to confirm itself as a selective, technical race worthy of its international prestige.

Start from the new ELETTROSYSTEM headquarters: transfer to Barzago before the official start
Another novelty concerns the starting location: the Lombardia U23 will depart from the new headquarters of the Elettrosystem company, a company led by sole administrator and passionate cycling enthusiast Beppe Giussani.

The group of riders will move from Oggiono in a controlled transfer for 7 kilometers, up to Barzago, where the checkered flag will be lowered marking the official start of the race. A logistical choice that enhances the territory and allows the peloton to be channeled toward the first part of the route, the one renewed with four passages over the Ello climb.
