These are the highlights of an exciting second evening of the International Grand Prix of Fiorenzuola – 6 Days of the White Roses at the "Attilio Pavesi" Velodrome.
WOMEN'S POINTS RACE UNDER 23 – G.P. INOX 80, KONRAD CONTROLS AND WINS
Belarusian Palina Konrad claimed the Women's Points Race Under 23 – G.P. INOX 80, the first final of the evening, imposing herself thanks to a performance of great consistency across the ten sprints on the program. Always in the top positions, she finished with 23 points, ahead of Polina Danshina in second with 19, and Aglaya Kokareva in third with 13. A race fought until the final sprint, with the podium decided only in the closing moments. Best Italian finisher was Irma Siri, seventh with 7 points.
MEN'S SCRATCH UNDER 23 – G.P. GM TERMOSANITARI, ZARAKOVSKIY WINS WITH FORCE
Daniil Zarakovskiy prevailed in the Men's Scratch Under 23 – G.P. GM Termosanitari, at the end of a race full of attacks. The winner built his success with a solo effort that allowed him to gain a lap on the field. Before him, Etienne Grimod had also managed to capture the lap solo, securing a brilliant second place. Third was Davide Stella, first of the main group.
WOMEN'S SPEED – G.P. INSIDE CENTRUFFICIO, VAN DER PEET SECURES THE REPEAT
Following her success in the Keirin, Steffie Van der Peet also claimed the Women's Speed – G.P. Inside Centrufficio, confirming herself as a protagonist of the second day. The Dutch rider (current world champion in team speed) defeated Italian Miriam Vece in the final, winning in two heats. The bronze medal final also concluded in two races, with Spanish Helena Casas Roige prevailing over Lithuanian Lauryna Valiukevičiūtė. Fifth was fellow Italian Matilde Cenci.
MEN'S SPEED – G.P. PLURIMEC, PREDOMO COMPLETES THE DOUBLE
Following his success in the Keirin, Mattia Predomo also claimed the Men's Speed – G.P. Plurimec, completing a splendid double on the second day of the International Grand Prix of Fiorenzuola. The Trentino sprinter prevailed over Polish Mateusz Rudyk in two heats in the gold medal final, while the bronze medal contest was the most hotly contested of the evening: South Korean Choi Tae-ho defeated Stefano Antonio Minuta only at the third attempt.
WOMEN'S ELIMINATION UNDER 23 – G.P. IL RINTOCCO, SANARINI BEATS EUROPEAN CHAMPION
An impressive performance by Paduan Linda Sanarini, who claimed the Women's Elimination Under 23 – G.P. Il Rintocco by defeating the current European champion in the discipline, Belarusian Palina Konrad. The Italian Fiamme Azzurre rider managed the decisive phases of the race perfectly, securing a prestigious victory ahead of her strong rival. Third place went to another Belarusian, Alina Karotkina, completing a podium of the highest level.
MEN'S AMERICAN PURSUIT UNDER 23 – G.P. SIDERPIGHI, FANTINI AND FIORIN DOMINATE THE RACE
A great performance by the Italian pair Christian Fantini - Matteo Fiorin, winners of the Men's American Pursuit Under 23 – G.P. Siderpighi. The two in Rossetti Market colors captured two laps on the field, finishing with 93 points. Two laps also recovered by Ares Costa and Francesco Matteoli in Pavinord colors, second with 72 points. The other pairs were further back: Matvei Iakovlev and Rostislav Novolodskii (Plurimec), third with 47 points, and Daniil Zarakovskiy and Grigorii Skorniakov of Alu Tecno, fourth with 46, both gained a lap on the peloton.
YOUTH OMNIUM – BELLETTINI AND ASTARA WIN THE ALFABICI TROPHIES
The second day also featured youth categories with the Omnium events valid respectively for the G.P. ECO Consul – Alfabici Trophy (Beginners) and the G.P. ORVI Cattadori – Alfabici Trophy (Juniors). Among the Beginners, Alessandro Bellettini of S.C. Cotignolese prevailed, finishing with 90 points ahead of Raffaele Dallara of S.C. Torrile (85) and teammate Alberto Bellagamba (78). In the Juniors category, the victory went to Leonardo Manfredi of Team Ciclistico Paletti with 94 points, ahead of Niccolò Astara of S.C. Cotignolese (92) and Mattia Gastasini of UC Empolese (82).
TOMORROW'S PROGRAM, JULY 22 (DAY 3)
From 4:00 PM the program will open with qualifications and the first two events of the Women's Elite Omnium – G.P. ASSIPRIME and Men's Elite Omnium – G.P. ACEF (Scratch and Time Race).
