A triumphant return to racing after a lengthy injury absence for American Neilson Powless, who claimed victory today in the third stage of the Tour of Austria, contested from Lienz to St. Johann Alpendorf over a distance of 188.7 km. The EF Education-EasyPost rider was alert in joining the 22-man breakaway that characterized the day's racing and then made the decisive move on the final climb alongside young Spanish talent Igor Arrieta of UAE Team Emirates-XRG.

At the finish line there was no contest, with Powless securing a clear victory, notching his first win of the season, while noteworthy was the fourth-place finish of his teammate Vincenzo Albanese.

Austrian Muhlberger, winner of the opening two stages, retains the leader's jersey in the general classification.
