Fourth gold medal for Italy on the opening day of the Cottbus Europeans: Fabio Del Medico, Stefano Minuta and Mattia Predomo won the Under 23 Team Sprint title. In the final they clocked 58.912, beating the Czech Republic's Adam Rauschgold, Jan Porizek and David Peterka.

Bronze medal for Belgium (De Schrijver, Van Laere and Nulens) who defeated Great Britain (Radford, Gill and Pettifer) in the third-place playoff.
