Lorenzo Finn does not stop and at the Sibiu Tour 2026 continues to string together successes, becoming more convincing each day, while also reaching new milestones. The latest, following the first professional victory achieved yesterday, the nineteen-year-old from Liguria reached it today at the summit of the scenic Balea Lac climb where, crossing the line with arms raised, he successfully completed the longest climb ever tackled in his professional racing career.
"I had never done such a long climb in a race, maybe at the Avenir but it was more irregular" Finn explained to us during his cool-down on the rollers after successfully concluding the third stage of the Romanian stage race.
"This was a climb lasting about an hour of effort and I didn't want to go into the red because, reaching two thousand meters, the risk of paying the price later is always there. In the end, my legs didn't let me down, I was with Munton and managed to impose myself" continued the young Red Bull BORA hansgrohe rider, making it clear that on today's ascent, he was in some way discovering himself and new sensations.
The final verdict, clear to everyone, was undoubtedly positive and reassuring given the second victory gained on Romanian roads in just over 24 hours, a success that, in addition to the now usual cascade of jerseys (the three for the general classification, mountains and young riders classifications and the two for the combined and points classifications), also brought him today a special monetary award (intended for the rider leading the Under 23 standings after today's finish) "in memory of Davide Rebellin", a rider and, above all, a person who left excellent memories here.
"It's definitely a special award. I never knew Davide personally, but what happened to him is very sad. His story, linked to the problem of road safety in Italy, makes you think. I take this opportunity to send a hug to his family" Finn commented on this matter, showing great sensitivity.
