A one-two finish for UAE Team Emirates-XRG in the second stage of the opening day at the Sibiu Tour 2026. The short 3.2 km time trial through the streets of the Transylvanian locality was won by Julius Johansen and Ivo Oliveira who, separated by 3 seconds, took the first two positions in the final standings.

Third behind them was the Dutch rider from Red Bull BORA hansgrohe Michiel Mouris (6" back from the day's winner), while the title of best Italian went to Manuel Oioli (Swatt Club), eleventh at the finish line with a time 11 seconds higher than that of the Dane.

The latter, already successful this year in the prologues of the O Gran Caminho and the Boucles de la Mayenne, confirmed that he is very much at ease in short-distance time trials, securing a victory that, in this case, also earned him the new yellow jersey as leader with a margin of 2" over his Portuguese teammate and 3" over Matias Malmberg who had taken control of the symbol of leadership in the morning.

With a time of 4'26" against Johansen's 4'16", the twenty-five-year-old Scandinavian was forced to cede in favor of his compatriot who, however, will very likely be forced to surrender the first place in the standings tomorrow on the first of two uphill finishes (not exactly his strong suit) scheduled in the Romanian stage race.
