The helmet is useful, precious and saves lives. We have a testimony from Martino Del Sarto, the gentleman Faizané, protagonist of a nasty incident on Sunday during a bike ride.
"I was descending on my bike from an asphalt suburban road, not very busy, with several hairpin turns and tight curves. In a curve that closed quite sharply, almost halfway through the turn, I arrived too fast and too wide. When I realized I wouldn't be able to complete the curve, I braked. Unfortunately, there was gravel on the asphalt and the bike started to skid. I ended up against the side of the guardrail with my bike and, after the impact, I fell over the guardrail, flying to the other side. In the fall, my head hit right on the sharp edge of the guardrail".
And further: "I can say with certainty that if I hadn't been wearing a helmet and glasses, I would have been hurt much, much worse. I still have the photo of the helmet and especially the glasses: the lens has a significant scratch, about half a millimeter deep. The impact that hit the glasses could have hit my face or eye directly. In the end, I got away with some cuts to my jaw and chin, which required 8 stitches, both internal and external. It went well, considering the dynamics of the crash".
Finally, a reflection to share with all those who ride: "The message I want to give is simple: on a bike, helmet and glasses are not just accessories, they are essential. They can really make the difference between a big scare and an accident with much more serious consequences. And I would add: always buy quality products, you can't take chances with safety".
