The second stage of the Tour de Gyeongnam 2026 was decided in a thrilling two-man sprint. At the finish line in Tongyeong (the location chosen as the starting and finishing point of the second 104.8-kilometre stage), Alastair Christie-Johnston (CCACHE x BODYWRAP) got the better of Cristian Raileanu (Li Ning Star) in an exciting head-to-head battle that gave the twenty-eight-year-old Australian (current continental bronze medallist in both road and time trial) his first career victory in an international race.

The two riders fought for victory after breaking away and dropping their three companions in the escape (Kane Richards of Roojai Insurance Winspace, Ilham Dzikri Ramadhan of Nusantara Cycling Team and Euro Kim of LX Cycling Team) with 12.9 kilometres remaining to the finish. From 54 kilometres out, they had led the action that characterized much of the second day of racing in South Korea.

In the general classification, there were no concerns for Simone Raccani (Team UKYO) who, thanks to the advantage accumulated at the end of yesterday's stage, crossed the finish line with the main group just seconds behind the two attackers and comfortably defended his overall lead, retaining the yellow jersey.
