Nicoletta Savio, daughter of Gianni, has written us a brief letter to remember Mario Androni. It seemed right to bring it to your attention.
When my father passed away, Mario Androni wrote a letter full of affection, friendship, esteem and nostalgia. One phrase, more than any other, remained in my heart: he said he was "sorry not to have said goodbye to him as he would have liked, but that perhaps it was better this way, because beautiful dreams must remain as they are, like a track for marbles of cyclists built on a warm and luminous beach".
With his immense passion, his generosity, vision, foresight, intelligence, his energy, his sacrifices, Mario Androni allowed countless people to realize their own dreams. But the real dreamer was him, capable of transforming passions into opportunities for others. He did it not only by giving shape to toys, but also by allowing so many cyclists to express themselves, to race, to get back up, to win, to write pages of history.
Cycling loses a man who not only supported dreams, but made them possible.
Today I like to imagine Mario Androni up there, together with my father, still talking "about their boys", about all those who proudly wore the Androni Giocattoli jersey.
