Andrea Piras, born in 2002 from Cavenago Brianza in the Brianza region, riding for Solution Tech NIPPO Rali, has won the 30th Giro della Provincia di Biella - 84th Turin-Biella International elite and under 23 race.

Piras outsprinted his Swiss teammate Alexander Balmer in a thrilling finish, with the two crossing the line together ahead of Lorenzo Masciarelli of MBH Bank CSB Telecom Fort by approximately twenty seconds. Manuel Oioli secured fourth place. The race was attended by both the president of the Italian Cycling Federation Cordiano Dagnoni and the president of the Professional League, Honorable Roberto Pella. The two appeared particularly friendly and smiling, following some previous misunderstandings. They also shared lunch with Regional President Massimo Rosso and Fabio Perego, president of the technical structure for track cycling.
