These are hours of anxiety for the cycling world regarding the condition of Jaume Guardeño, a promising young cyclist for Caja Rural RGA Seguros, hospitalized in serious condition following a severe accident. According to reports from the newspaper AS, last Tuesday Guardeño was training in Centelles, near Altea, where he lives, with his younger brother. On a slight downhill stretch, Guardeño hit a rock on the road, losing control of his bicycle and colliding with a car. Guardeño suffered a serious head trauma and was immediately transported to the emergency room with a severe brain injury.

He is sedated and in serious condition, although his situation has stabilized in recent hours. Sources from Caja Rural, contacted by the newspaper, have confirmed Guardeño's condition, although no official statement has yet been issued regarding the matter.

Guardeño, 23 years old, is one of the rising stars of Spanish cycling: in 2025 he was a standout performer at the Vuelta, finishing in 14th place, and this year the team has included him among the candidates for his Tour de France debut, for which the Spanish team received a historic invitation.
