Jasper Philipsen has become the 68th rider to inscribe his name in the roll of honour of Gent-Wevelgem, today known as In Flanders Fields, and has allowed Belgium to celebrate their 51st victory out of 88 editions contested. Frenchman Christophe Laporte, thanks to his 3rd place yesterday, has become the 17th rider in history to reach the podium at least three times in this classic. For him also the 2nd place in 2022 and the 1st in 2023.
Jonas Vingegaard is the first Dane to win the Volta a Catalunya and, thanks to the success achieved in Iberian territory, has brought to 13 the number of stage races won in his career, including two Tours de France (won in 2022 and 2023). Florian Lipowitz's third place has allowed Germany to sign their first podium in the history of this race.
The treble achieved at Catalunya (two stages and the overall classification) has allowed Vingegaard to reach 6 victories and to become the cyclist with the most WorldTour race wins this season, among the 24 with at least one victory. For Denmark a triple record considering races in the most important UCI circuit: number of victories (11), number of riders who scored (4) and total number of top-three finishes (16).
