The 2026 edition of the Tour of Thailand came to a close under the sign of Alexander Salby. Just 24 hours after his first success in the Asian race, the Danish sprinter from Li Ning Star stamped his authority once again, claiming the sprint victory in the sixth and final stage, the Nong Khai-Nong Khai time trial of 125.5 kilometers.
With a display of pure power, launching his attack at 200 meters and executing a perfectly-timed finisher's move at the final corner against Estonian Norman Vahtra (China Anta - Mentech Cycling Team), Salby crossed the line ahead of the winner of the first two stages Pierre Barbier (Terengganu Cycling Team) and Malaysian Mohamad Izzat Hilmi Abdul Halil (Malaysia Pro Cycling). In doing so, he leveled the direct confrontation with the French sprinter.
The tally was also even in terms of victories, both partial and overall, achieved in the race by the two squads that have undoubtedly dominated the scene in recent days, namely Li Ning Star and Terengganu: alongside three stage wins (two with Salby and one with Scott) and the points classification victory (again with Salby) and the team classification, the Malaysian team responded with Barbier's triumphs and the conquest of both the polka dot jersey for best climber and the yellow jersey of the general classification, both going to Vadim Pronskiy.
In doing so, both Continental teams confirm themselves, at the end of an intense March, as the two best teams in their category by number of victories and, more generally, among the ten most successful teams in the world in this 2026.
From an Italian perspective, the Thai race concluded with the brilliant ninth place in the final stage by Alexander Konychev (China Anta - Mentech Cycling Team), who, after distinguishing himself on several occasions in recent days, also secured a solid 7th place in the general classification.
