A huge sigh of relief, with the air drifting away in the wind and carrying with it a scent of happiness. Michael Zarate, the young Mexican rider from Petrolike, victim of a nasty crash in the first stage of the Coppi&Bartali Week, has woken up and is doing well.
Marco Bellini, team manager of the Mexican team, tells us about it and is the protagonist of that sigh of relief: «We spent 3 days in anxiety because, despite running a CT scan every day, there was fear that he had suffered neurological damage. This morning Michael woke up and responded very positively to all stimuli. He's talking, he's lucid and he even asked me what his teammates did in these stages! Not only that, he even told me he was sorry he couldn't continue in the race! What more can I say except that we at the team are truly relieved because we've lived through three days of great anxiety?».
