Thanks to an excellent sprint from behind launched with perfect timing, Alexander Salby prevailed in the fifth stage of the 2026 Tour of Thailand, the Sri Chiang Mai-Sri Chiang Mai 136.5 kilometers, giving his Li Ning Star back-to-back victories after his teammate Cameron Scott's win yesterday.

This time, contrary to what happened in the first two stages where, launching early, the Danish sprinter had seen himself caught by Pierre Barbier (Terengganu Cycling Team), the class of '98 from Aabenraa approached the final sprint differently and this choice paid off, leading him to raise his arms to the sky for the second time this season (his first success had come at the end of January at the Tour of Sharjah).

Nothing to do then today for his rivals who, starting with Barbier (2nd) and the Dutch rider from China Anta - Mentech Cycling Team Jesper Rasch (3rd), had to bow to the acceleration of the Scandinavian rider, an athlete capable last year of closing the season among the ten most successful riders of 2025 with eleven personal victories (nine of which in races .1 or higher).

As for the general classification, today's stage was transitional or almost, because, apart from the withdrawal of Luke Mudgway (Li Ning Star) and the rise to seventh place of Italian Alexander Konychev (second at the first intermediate sprint with daily bonuses), there was no change whatsoever in the top positions.
