Mauro Vegni, member of the Board of Directors of the Professional Cycling League and former Director of the Giro d'Italia, pays tribute to Avv. Carmine Castellano, who passed away today: "We are losing a great cycling enthusiast, even before a knowledgeable sports executive. Every free moment spent with him was an opportunity to talk about races and riders, never about organization. This shows how deeply he was in love with this sport".
A memory rooted in the years, from when Vegni became part of the RCS family, where he ideally took over from Castellano in managing the races organized by RCS Sport. "Mine is a memory made of many images, distant in time but still vivid. I think back to my early years at Gazzetta, when he welcomed me with great availability: I appreciated him deeply also from a human point of view, he was a sincere person of great value. A man who stood by his word, an expression of a cycling from another era that was evolving, but which he always loved deeply. He was also a great connoisseur of the rules, a quality I have always greatly admired".
