The starters for the 61st edition of the Tirreno Adriatico Crédit Agricole have been announced, which will start tomorrow from Lido di Camaiore with an individual time trial and will conclude on Sunday, March 15th as tradition dictates in San Benedetto del Tronto. In between, seven stages, 1165.5 km and 15,550 meters of total elevation gain. Here are the impressions gathered on the eve of the race among the big names competing.
Isaac Del Toro: "It will be a high-level race because all the teams are here very motivated. On this type of course you have to stay alert, there are pitfalls every day. There isn't a queen stage, anything can happen every day. It will be stressful but I'm motivated".
Primoz Roglic: "The Tirreno Adriatico marks the beginning of my season, we need to see how I'm doing in terms of fitness. I trained a lot during the winter, I'm coming from a training camp, so I feel good. It was exciting to watch some of the Winter Olympic Games events, but now we're back to racing".
Filippo Ganna: "This will be my tenth Tirreno Adriatico, and to race it I had to discuss it with the team. The time trial at Lido di Camaiore is one of my favorites, I hope to win it again. After that, I'll try to save myself with an eye on Milan-San Remo, which is a major objective, although it will be difficult to challenge Mathieu Van der Poel and Tadej Pogacar".
Antonio Tiberi: "I finished on the podium last year, in an edition that was very important for my growth. I would have preferred a course with a long climb, but I think there are many interesting opportunities. I did a reconnaissance of the second stage, the one with the gravel sections, and I hope to be a protagonist. There's a possibility that the gaps will be very tight, so the bonuses from the intermediate sprints could make the difference".
Jonathan Milan: "This isn't a Tirreno Adriatico for sprinters, there are many demanding stages. It will be a tough week, but I'll give everything to reach the final stage and fight for victory in San Benedetto del Tronto. It will also be an important race with an eye on Milan-San Remo, it will be difficult to follow Van der Poel and Pogacar in the finale but I want to try".
Paul Magnier: "I raced the Tirreno Adriatico last year. It's a very tough race, with long stages that could help my preparation for Milan-San Remo. I believe that in the end we'll have two opportunities. I'm in good form, and I'm confident I can do well with the team's support to win a stage".
