For the 2026 edition of the Tirreno Adriatico, the organizers have decided to propose a slightly different route than usual. The menu does not in fact include a proper hilltop finish, which usually serves as the watershed of the Race of the Two Seas, but many stages suited to ambushes. In this way the race will likely remain open from the first to the last day, with the men aiming for the general classification forced to keep their eyes open at any moment.

Two things, however, are certain: the start from Versilia and Lido di Camaiore and the finish on the Riviera delle Palme, the Adriatic coast, in San Benedetto del Tronto, after 7 days of Coast to Coast racing. For the 12th consecutive time, therefore, the race will start from Lido di Camaiore, again with an individual time trial of 11.5 km along the seafront, with a change of direction and an intermediate time at Fiumetto after 5 km. The time trial is completely flat, so the first Maglia Azzurra will undoubtedly be a great specialist in the discipline. 

Stage 2 promises to be already exciting, because while it's true that the elevation profile is not so frightening, the Camaiore - San Gimignano stage is as long as 206 km and the finale features a gravel section of 5.3 km. Just a few days away from the Strade Bianche, riders will find themselves on a scenic off-road stretch right near the finish line, moreover slightly uphill, in the heart of the Val d'Elsa, which will undoubtedly tickle the imagination of those who know these roads and enjoy them. 

For sprinters to have their first chance, they will have to wait for Stage 3, as long as 221 km, which will take the peloton from Cortona, not far from Lake Trasimeno, to Magliano de' Marsi, in Abruzzo, without presenting any particular altitude difficulties.

Stage 4 could also end in a sprint, still very long, from Tagliacozzo to Martinsicuro for 213 km, but this time sprinters will have to work hard. In the first half of the stage there are long climbs of Ovindoli and Valico delle Capannelle to tackle, while in the last 60 km you need to be careful about the roughness of Castellalto (5.5 km at 5.7%) and the ramp of Via Badette in Tortoreto (1.8 km at 7.8%), the latter to be overcome just 13 km from the finish. It is not to be ruled out that all these ups and downs could, in the end, push someone to try decisively, putting an end to the hopes of the sprinters.

The grand finale, the last three stages, will be reserved for the Marche region. And when you think of this region in cycling terms, you can only think of the famous leg-breaking walls, which will punctually reappear in Stages 5 and 6 of the 2026 Tirreno Adriatico. It starts with the Marotta (Mondolfo) - Mombaroccio stage of 184 km, which features the Monte delle Cesane (7.3 km at 7%) halfway through and then, especially, after the climb of Monte della Mattera, 6 km long, irregular but with double-digit gradient peaks, the Mombaroccio circuit 21.6 km long and to be repeated twice. What characterizes it is the climb of the Santuario Beato Sante (4 km long, with gradients at times above 10%), which ends about 1500 meters from the Mombaroccio finish. With so many ups and downs, there are all the conditions for an exciting stage. 

Stage 6, the San Severino Marche - Camerino stage of 188 km, features an elevation gain (3900 m) and a similar design, but this time there is also the Sassotetto climb, the Valico di Santa Maria Maddalena, one of the symbolic ascents of the entire region (13.1 km at 7.4%), which however at over 120 km from the finish could be tackled without too much aggression. Once at Camerino, a 29.1 km circuit will begin to be repeated twice, with the ramp leading to the finish line (to be done three times) that cannot be underestimated, since in addition to being just under 3 km it features several double-digit gradient sections (average 8.8%).

The Adriatic coast hosts the final stage, usually little more than a procession, starting from Civitanova Marche and with the classic finish in San Benedetto del Tronto after 142 km. After the GPM of Ripatransone 90 km from the finish, the peloton will launch onto the San Benedetto del Tronto circuit, 14.5 km long and to be repeated 5 times, at the end of which the final sprint will take place and we will know the new King of the Two Seas.
