Born in France, but with Spanish origins, today Garcia is the coach of the Red Devils, namely the Belgian national team, but few know that he is a great cycling enthusiast and that yesterday he fulfilled a dream he has been chasing since childhood: meeting his great idol Eddy Merckx.

Rudi Garcia shared some photos on his social media in the company of the Cannibal Merckx. This is a meeting that has been on the French coach's wish list for a long time: «This is a childhood dream that has come true» wrote Belgium's CT.

Garcia is a son of the art and his father, who was also a footballer, was a great cycling enthusiast and decided to name his son after Rudi Altig, a German cyclist and track rider, active in the Sixties, capable of winning among other things in his career the World Championship in 1966, a Milan-San Remo and a Tour of Flanders respectively in 1968 and 1964, as well as several world track titles.

The meeting was pleasant for both: if Garcia as a football man is a great cycling enthusiast, Merckx as a cycling champion never misses a Belgian national football match.
