It was not a fortunate trip for the Visma Lease a Bike in Omani territory. At the end of the Muscat Classic, Owain Doull had fallen, then Axel Zingle was forced to withdraw from the Tour of Oman due to health issues. Then it was Sepp Kuss's turn, who was forced to retire and not start the third stage, and finally Bart Lemmen who crashed during that third stage, did reach the finish line but could not restart the next day.
"After a new medical check, it was confirmed that I broke my wrist last Monday at the Tour of Oman. I won't be able to ride on the road for the next four weeks, which means I won't race Paris-Nice. Of course, I'm very disappointed, but I'm focusing on my recovery and will come back stronger" wrote the 30-year-old Dutchman who, according to the team's plans, should support Jonas Vingegaard on the Giro d'Italia routes.
