A world championship dream shattered in the final moments due to two crashes. Filippo Grigolini must settle for the silver medal in the Junior Cyclocross World Championship. Only bad luck stopped the Italian, who until that moment had imposed his own pace, taking the lead already in the first lap and maintaining it until a few hundred meters from the finish line.
The Dutchman Delano Heeren, already world champion in the Mixed Relay, took advantage of this, managing to win thanks to an exceptional recovery. Bronze went to the Belgian Lejeune, while the Spanish rider Noval finished just off the podium. Pezzo Rosola finished eighth, Dell'Olio tenth.
