The World Cyclocross Championships kicked off today in Hulst, Netherlands, with the Mixed Relay event. The Italian team delivered an excellent performance, securing the silver medal just 16 seconds behind the title-winning Netherlands. Belgium took bronze, with Great Britain in fourth and France in fifth. The Italian squad, led by Daniele Pontoni, constructed a high-level performance, leading until the final lap thanks to outstanding performances by Fontana, Grigolini, Pellizotti, Ferri, Viezzi, and Casasola. In the final moments, they were overtaken by the fierce comeback of the Dutch team - Del Grosso, Van Anrooij, Van Den Eijnden, Heeren, Bentveld, and Versluis - who were worthy winners. Belgium rounded out the podium with Moors, De Bruyckere, Brouwers, Van Lee, Peeters, and Vandeputte.
