Cycling bids farewell to a revolutionary innovator who wrote an important page in bicycle history: Joseph S. Montgomery - known to all as Joe - founder of the Cannondale brand passed away on Friday, January 2nd. He was 86 years old, and the news was officially confirmed by his son Scott after the funeral.
Born in 1939, Montgomery founded Cannondale in 1971: he chose a modest loft above a pickle factory in Wilton, Connecticut - the classic "spot that nobody wants" - and from there began producing cycling and camping accessories.
