Dear Editor, dear readers,
I have carefully read what Silvano Antonelli wrote (link).
As far as we are concerned, as Cycling League, we want to reaffirm our full collaboration with the Federation and Regional Committees for the cause of cycling, in service of sport, as you can verify in the attached letter.
Our proposal, signed and shared by President Roberto Pella and Vice President Giuseppe Saronni, is purely operational. It concerns the enhancement of cycling, involving young people during professional races, as already successfully tested during some of our Coppa Italia delle Regioni 2025 trials.

Subject: Request for a meeting to develop synergies and activities in individual races of the
Coppa Italia delle Regioni
Dear Colleagues,
We wish to bring to your attention the intention of the Professional Cycling League to initiate a collaboration aimed at strengthening synergies between our sports institutions during the Coppa Italia delle Regioni days. As is well known, the professional competition calendar represents not only a moment of high sporting value but also an important opportunity for visibility, participation, and involvement of local communities. In this context, we believe that the Coppa Italia delle Regioni races can constitute a privileged environment to develop shared initiatives for the benefit of territories, involving various institutional actors - starting with fellow mayors and councilors - animated, like you, by the desire to promote their local realities. This would allow us to activate virtuous paths with schools, associations and, in particular, with the many young people who have chosen cycling as their sporting activity.
Our goal is to create, through great teamwork, paths and activities that allow us to offer significant and memorable experiences like those already developed in 2025 individually by some of our organizers such as Rcs Sport, ExtraGiro, U.S. Legnanese and U.C. Larcianese. Our intention is to actively involve young people in award ceremonies, enhancing a model that, thanks also to the presence of today's and past professional cycling champions, can become a strong element of inspiration and motivation for new generations. This approach also aims to strengthen the educational, social, and cultural role of cycling within local communities, integrating territorial activities with high-media events, such as our professional competitions.
In this perspective, the Professional Cycling League considers it fundamental to start a structured dialogue with Regional Committees and the Federation, in order to jointly identify operational methods, activity formats, best practices, and organizational tools that allow programming sports promotion initiatives in conjunction with the Coppa Italia delle Regioni races, favoring the birth of true "territorial projects" that, over time, can consolidate and become a stable reference. To this end, we will make sure to involve my fellow mayors, Regions, and various institutional entities with which we are already collaborating. We propose a first video conference meeting on Monday, December 15th at 7:00 PM to ensure the broadest participation and the best conduct of work, at the following link.
Certain that an increasingly close collaboration between the Professional Cycling League, the Federation, and its Regional Committees can represent a decisive added value for the development of our sport - both at the highest levels and in its grassroots dimension - I wish to thank you in advance for your attention, availability, and for everything you do daily for our territories: for us mayors, you are the operational arm of communities, their soul, the present and future of our young people, embodying passion and enthusiasm.
To you, our most heartfelt thanks and most cordial greetings.
