Another young talent has the Tour in his sights: we're talking about Cian Uijtdebroeks, the 22-year-old Belgian who left Visma Lease a Bike, where he felt a bit "constrained", to join Movistar. With the team's technical staff, Uijtdebroeks has officially confirmed his main season appointments, which are concentrated in April with the Itzulia Basque Country and the Ardennes Classics, and in July with his debut at the Grande Boucle.
"I will make my debut at the Tour de France, I want to make the most of this opportunity. The Basque Country Tour is also a very important race in my calendar. I would like to compete there at the peak of my physical form, just like in the Ardennes Classics".
While Uijtdebroeks, who initially seemed likely to race the Giro, has chosen France, his Movistar teammate Enric Mas might participate in the Italian race. The Spaniard has not yet officially confirmed his calendar, but in an interview with Marca, he said he wants to take a break from the Tour and try something new. Like the Giro d'Italia, which he has never ridden and for whose route he has expressed his appreciation.
