Born in Belgium and raised in Carrick-on-Suir, Ireland — the same hometown of cycling legend Sean Kelly — Bennett brings with him an extraordinary collection of victories: 10 stage wins in Grand Tours and the rare privilege of belonging to the select group of riders capable of winning stages in all three Grand Tours.
For Bennett, joining the team represents in a way a return: "It's fantastic to be able to race with the Q36.5 Pro Cycling Team next season. My career started thanks to Kurt Bogaerts, so it's like I've made a long journey to come back home"
That journey has made Sam one of the most formidable sprinters in modern cycling, a rider always competitive in every sprint finish. In the next season, Bennett will aim to enrich his already impressive palmares and, at the same time, contribute to the growth of the team's young talents. "As a sprinter, my career has been shaped by the pursuit of victory. I've been fortunate to have many opportunities to express myself and win in all three Grand Tours," the Irishman explained.
He continued: "By joining this team, I not only want to perform well, but I also feel the responsibility to guide younger riders to achieve great milestones. I've followed the team's growth, its progress and great results, and I'm excited to be part of it. I sincerely thank Doug Ryder and Kurt for this opportunity."
The performance manager, Kurt Bogaerts, recalled his long connection with Bennett: "We first worked together at the An Post – Sean Kelly team, where Sam became a professional after winning the Caerphilly stage at the 2013 Tour of Britain. We've stayed in touch throughout his career, and now we have the opportunity to add his winning experience to our team. He knows what it takes to win at the highest levels, especially in Grand Tours. With Sam, we can aim for high-profile victories and the consistency we seek."
