Arnaud Demare has announced his retirement from racing with a post on Instagram: Sunday's Paris-Tours will be the last race for the French sprinter of Arkea B&B Hotels. Here are his words: "I started cycling at the age of 6.
🚴♂️ I was fortunate to live my dream, to win important races and proudly represent French cycling at the highest levels. 🇫🇷 I never would have imagined achieving all this. 🙏
I was immersed in this passion with my family, and that's what pushed me forward all these years. ❤️ At the end of this season, after Paris-Tours, I'll turn the page in my professional career. 🏁
I'm proud of my journey and deeply grateful to: ❤️ my family 🤝 my teams 🙌 my supporters. But competition will always remain a part of me. 🔥 You'll still see me wearing a bib number, in sports in general, simply for pure enjoyment."
