The list of registered riders for the 119th edition of Il Lombardia presented by Crédit Agricole has been announced, which will start this Saturday from Como and conclude, after 241 km and 4,400 meters of elevation gain, in Bergamo.
Rider number 1 will be on Tadej Pogačar's shoulders. The two-time world champion has won all the editions of the Classic of the Falling Leaves in which he has participated and, in case of another success, would become the first rider in history to win five consecutive editions of a Monument Classic.
Among the main challengers announced at the start are Remco Evenepoel, second in the previous edition as well as in the recent World and European Championships, Thomas Pidcock, second at Strade Bianche and making his debut on the roads of Il Lombardia, Primož Roglič, third in the 2023 edition, and Ben Healy, bronze medalist at the Kigali World Championships.
Many stars are expected at the start, including Isaac Del Toro, Egan Bernal, Paul Seixas, Richard Carapaz, Julian Alaphilippe, Mattias Skjelmose, Jai Hindley and, among the Italians, Christian Scaroni and Giulio Pellizzari.
ISRAEL. By mutual agreement, the organizers and the Israel Premier Tech team have decided that the team will not start the race for safety reasons, as has already happened in the Giro dell'Emilia and the Trittico Lombardo.

ROUTE. Departure from Como towards Cantù. The Ghisallo is climbed as the first difficulty, but from the Asso side to descend to Bellagio and reach Lecco along the shore of Lake Como. Entering the province of Bergamo, the series of difficulties begins that leads to the finish, characterized by a continuous succession of climbs and descents with almost no flat sections between one and the other. First climbed is the Roncola (Valpiana Pass, gradients up to 17%). Followed by the climbs of Berbenno, Dossena, Zambla Alta and Ganda Pass, bringing the total elevation gain above 4,400 m. From Ganda, you arrive at Selvino where the classic long descent with 19 hairpin turns begins. There are then 9 km of approach to the city (the only flat section of the entire finale) and the classic passage through Città Alta to the finish.
Final kilometers
Final kilometers through Bergamo Alta, climbing to Porta Garibaldi and then (with 200 m of cobblestones) to Largo Colle Aperto. In the first part, the gradients are always above 10% (max 12%). The descent has a wide carriageway on a smooth surface. At 1,800 m from the finish, a sharp turn with a brief narrow section to pass through Porta Sant'Agostino. After the last kilometer, a wide left curve to enter the straight that leads to the finish. Final straight of 800 m, downhill in the first part and then flat.
