Chantal Pegolo is radiant with her silver medal around her neck: "It was a race full of tactics. From the first moments, I noticed that the favorites were controlling each other and spending a lot of energy. I wasn't among the predicted winners, so I maintained a low profile, trying to give my best and bring home a good result, and I'm happy with how it went. Marco Velo had told us to help each other because Italy is a team. Or rather, as I said in the press conference, Italy is a family: the elite and Under 23 girls gave me tons of advice and supported me even when perhaps I didn't believe in myself, and for this I thank them. Two out of five in the last kilometer of the race? Giada Silo had told me she could make the difference on the pavé after the climb. There were some controls and in the last 500 meters, since I had more energy, she took the initiative and pulled. I thank her, along with all the other girls, for their precious support".
Marco Velo, before getting back into the team car for the Elite race, commented on the performance of the Italian juniors: "I'm really happy about Chantal Pegolo's silver medal. Beating the Spanish rider was almost impossible, so for us this is an extraordinary result. I'm pleased with how the girls managed the race: a solid team performance that shows the fruits of our work. Today, the results of our efforts were clearly visible. Congratulations to everyone".
