Richard Plugge, the general manager of Visma-Lease a Bike, is understandably bitter about the bike theft suffered by his team during the night: "We woke up with a broken and open truck, certainly not the best way to start the day, especially after yesterday's victory. The mechanics did an incredible job mounting the bikes we needed for the stage, fortunately we had enough. I was told that three of the stolen bikes were left somewhere, but there's a police investigation and I don't know why they were left there, and other bikes were subsequently found, thankfully. We also have some spare bikes for today's stage, we were in the same hotel as Movistar and Trek and both of these teams were extremely kind, offering us help in some way. It was nice to see how the teams worked so well together".
