After the Giro, Tour and Vuelta... Piedmont wants even more. "In the near future, we will continue to focus on cycling: we will bid to host a future edition of the European and World Championships" said Regional Governor Alberto Cirio clearly during the inaugural stage of the Spanish race. The target year for the world championship could be 2031, when the third edition of the super world championship will take place.
"Continuity is fundamental: the Vuelta represents our triple crown after Giro and Tour. We believe that each event should not end with the final finish line, but transform these appointments into a stable heritage capable of attracting athletes and enthusiasts in the following years."
"Piedmont is an extraordinary natural set, but to attract these types of events, credibility is needed. And we have built that credibility through our actions: in recent years, each event has become a calling card for the next. Sports offer extraordinary opportunities: if we were to buy the same visibility through a marketing campaign, we would spend much more and achieve significantly inferior results. The numbers speak for themselves: the 2024 Tour de France generated 84 million euros in economic impact here, with almost 7 million euros in direct spectator spending."
Beyond cycling, tennis with the ATP Finals, and numerous other events, there is even an Olympic project. The French government has endorsed Piedmont's participation in the 2030 Olympics, and Governor Cirio confirms: "The French support is a strong signal, the completion of work with the City of Turin. Some years ago, someone said no to the 2026 Olympics, committing an error we are still paying for today: we are working to be in the race for 2030, and the will expressed so explicitly is the push we need."
