With the publication of the Serie A 2025-2026 calendar, the date for the next edition of the BGY Airport Granfondo has been officially confirmed: the appointment for all enthusiasts is set for Sunday, May 10, 2026, once again in Bergamo, the cradle of great cycling and a land of intense two-wheeled emotions.
The announcement of the date is accompanied by a symbolic gesture of great emotional and human value. Starting from 2026, the organizing committee has decided to retire race number 183 in memory of Michele Negri, the young Milan cyclist who tragically passed away following an accident during the last edition of the granfondo.
A simple yet meaningful gesture to honor his memory and once again show the organization's closeness to his family and loved ones. Michele deeply loved cycling, just like all those who choose to pedal through the beauties of the Bergamo province every year.
This is not the first time the event has symbolically linked a race number to the memory of a special person. In 2004, number 50 was retired in memory of Davide Fardelli, a Bergamo entrepreneur and cycling enthusiast who passed away prematurely in a road accident. In 2022, number 1 was retired to pay homage to Felice Gimondi, an eternal symbol of Italian cycling and a historic soul of the granfondo.
These small yet significant gestures tell the deep soul of the BGY Airport Granfondo: an event that puts people and their connection to the bicycle at the center, even when time seems to have stopped.
