A class performance combining strength and intelligence was displayed less than two kilometers from the finish line by the cyclocross world champion Mattia Agostinacchio, which allowed him to sign the golden book of the 49th Gran Premio Liberazione City of Massa a Turano.
A performance worth remembering immediately. First, the determined pursuit with his teammate Novak and Australian Manion behind the magnificent leading duo of the GB Pool Cantù team Doghetti-Galbusera (both excellent), then the peremptory response on the "tooth" of the Rocca less than two kilometers from the finish to Galbusera's attack, and then continuing with the maximum gear ratio to fly towards the finish line along the Via Aurelia.
The off-road world champion was welcomed by thunderous applause from the sports fans present, with the first congratulations coming from the Italian national team coach Dino Salvoldi. A truly extraordinary performance after Agostinacchio had won the mountain grand prix on the Evam climb on the first pass. Before the second pass on this climb, a breakaway by Colombo, Mengarelli, Cianti, Spotti, and the Doghetti-Galbusera duo remained alone at the head of the race in the last 10 kilometers before being caught at the foot of the Rocca "climb" where Agostinacchio's feat was recorded.
The race, with unofficial gathering and start from Piazza degli Aranci, saw 186 riders at the start out of 194 registered, of which 51 crossed the Turano finish line, after a race conducted at over 42 km/h average, organized by G.S. Turano with the collaboration of Montignoso Ciclismo.
