Once, water bottles were cult objects, collectibles, still today children and others request them from their idols. Bottles, caps, gloves, even glasses. Well, glasses are an even more coveted and desired object, but some give them away in certain situations. Giulio Ciccone, for some years now, when there's a victory to celebrate has made throwing his glasses his distinctive trademark. Before crossing the finish line he takes them, removes them and throws them into the crowd. Today at the finish line in San Lorenzo Dorsino, first stage of the Tour of The Alps, the ritual was repeated, but the gesture of generosity was not appreciated by the jury panel who fined the Lidl Trek rider 250 Swiss francs and penalized him 15 UCI points, after having earned 20 points for his 11th career victory, the first this year. Nothing can be done, it's not okay, unfortunately it should be said by his team and the eyewear company. Objects must not be thrown towards the public, despite being regularly behind the barriers. Next time, after crossing the finish line, he might throw himself directly into the arms of the fans, let's see if the regulations provide for an ordeal in the public square.
