Edison Alejandro Callejas Santos is living a fairy tale at the Giro d'Abruzzo. The twenty-four-year-old Colombian from Petrolike won the Roccaraso stage by a significant margin - definitely the queen stage of the race - and shares his happiness: "As a team, we prepared for this race very well and I knew I was in good form. This stage really suited my characteristics. I felt strong from the beginning of the climb and noticed that the general classification contenders were cautious, so I moved to the front. I had excellent legs, so I went off alone and immediately created a gap: I truly believe this is the beginning of something great with our partner Petrolike, who is building the future with promising young talents".
He then adds: "This is my most important victory so far and I hope it's just the beginning in races of this level. I attacked when I realized the other riders were at their limit. In the final meters of the race, I thought about my family, this victory is for them. I'm also happy to give this victory to my team and especially in memory of Gianni Savio, who believed in me by giving me the opportunity to race here in Europe".
