Remco Evenepoel's recovery, after the December accident, is proceeding in the best possible way and at Soudal Quick-Step they are convinced he will soon return to his best level. The two-time Olympic champion was seen last Wednesday while taking a reconnaissance ride with his teammates on the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad course, enjoying showing off his qualities. Evenepoel performed well while training with his teammates and will soon be able to return regularly with his Soudal-Quick Step. According to the latest information, the Belgian will participate in the team's high-altitude training camp in Spain, joining the group that will start the Giro d'Italia, together with Landa and Paret-Peintre: the riders participating in the pink race will go to a training camp in Sierra Nevada at the end of March.
The high-altitude training will prepare Evenepoel for his seasonal debut scheduled for April 18th at the Brabant Arrow, followed by the Amstel Gold Race, the Flèche Wallonne and Liège-Bastogne-Liège, and he will most likely also participate in the Tour de Romandie.
Regarding the high-altitude preparation with the Giro d'Italia group, Remco Evenepoel, as already announced, will not be present in the Italian stage race, but we will see him at the Tour de France.
With the group that will be in Italy, we will be able to observe the young talent Paul Magnier, the twenty-year-old Frenchman who has been racing with Evenepoel since last year. Magnier finished second at the Omloop Het Nieuwsblad last Saturday and we will be able to see him, before the Giro, also at Tirreno-Adriatico and Milan-San Remo.
As for the group that will be with Remco Evenepoel at the Tour de France, Tim Merlier, Mikel Landa, Bert Van Lerberghe, and Pascal Eenkhoorn have been confirmed so far.
