CYCLE TOURISM | 21/12/2024 | 08:16 Livigno celebrates a 2024 rich in success, confirming itself as an alpine destination of excellence for sports, gastronomy, events (with 25 international events organized during the year) and tourism. In 2024, the location distinguished itself with an innovative and forward-looking vision – also in view of the Milano Cortina 2026 Olympics – which wanted to bring to light the essence of Livigno, namely "Alpine Energy, at the highest level", always maintaining a focus on its values: respect and care for the territory; attention to citizens and tourists; pride in traditions, celebrated and passed down. WINTER 2023/24: SNOW, FUN AND INTERNATIONAL EVENTS The winter season saw Livigno as a protagonist of important results, thanks to a perfect combination of innovation, sports and international events. From late October 2023 to late April 2024, it snowed 75 days in Livigno for a total of 13.33 meters of snow, equivalent to a two-story building: a guarantee for all winter sports enthusiasts who could enjoy fun days in the ski area. The ski area saw 1,246,442 first entries registered from December 2, 2023 to May 1, 2024, while the sports practiced beyond alpine skiing were snowshoeing, ski mountaineering and cross-country skiing. SUMMER 2024: NATURE, SPORTS AND OUTDOOR EVENTS Even in summer, Livigno confirmed itself as an open-air gym for all enthusiasts and a place ready to host international events, both cultural and sporting. The lush territory, well-maintained trails suitable for every difficulty, numerous bike paths and excellent infrastructure have made Livigno a sought-after destination for sports enthusiasts. In summer 2024, running, hiking and biking were mainly practiced: three activities that allow you to invigorate the body and, at the same time, feel in harmony with the mountain. Livigno is the perfect place to practice them because the location boasts 3,200 km of GPS-mapped routes, equivalent to the distance between Milan and Palermo! FOOD: AN EXCELLENCE FOR THE WHOLE YEAR Gastronomy played a central role in 2024: from traditional dishes offered daily to high-level events and initiatives – such as the Sunrise Mattias – which highlighted the gourmet gastronomic soul of the destination. Along with pizza, pizzoccheri and sciätt (an average of 96,000 dishes prepared in a year) were the most requested dishes by travelers during the year, underlining the desire to taste the authentic flavors of the territory. A desire also evident from the products purchased in the shops in the pedestrian center (which would require 3,000 steps to cross entirely): the most purchased food product is slinzega. THE IMPORTANCE OF THE TERRITORY: A JEWEL TO BE PRESERVED The territory of Livigno – equal to 221 km², or slightly larger than Liechtenstein – has always been recognized as a jewel to be preserved. The territory is also an inexhaustible source of genuine ingredients, fundamental for creating tasty dishes, both gourmet and traditional, capable of telling the story and evolution of the location. Numerous farm animals also live in this valley. It is therefore with satisfaction that Livigno greets 2024, a year during which it confirmed its role of alpine excellence and anticipated an equally promising future.
