Davide de Pretto, Giulio Ciccone, Davide Piganzoli, and VF Group Bardiani-CSF Faizané are the winners of the first edition of the Coppa Italia delle Regioni, the exciting challenge among athletes and the best Italian and international cycling teams, included in the prestigious ProSeries circuit and the UCI Europe Tour calendar. The project is promoted and coordinated by the Professional Cycling League together with the Conference of Regions and Autonomous Provinces and in collaboration with the Minister for Sport and Youth, the Department for Sport and Sport and Health SpA. This first edition involved four regions with equally exciting stages - Giro dell'Emilia, Coppa Agostoni, Gran Piemonte, and Giro del Veneto - which were followed by more than 11 million people, of which over 9 million internationally. The awards ceremony was held today in the prestigious representative office of the Friuli Venezia-Giulia Region, in the presence of the President of the Conference of Regions and Autonomous Provinces, Massimiliano Fedriga, and the President of the Professional Cycling League, Roberto Pella.

"We are particularly proud to host the awards ceremony for the first edition of the Coppa Italia delle Regioni cycling event, a sport that has always played an important role in our Country. This initiative adds an important chapter to a glorious history made of heroic feats, great champions, and indelible examples of stubbornness, courage, and class. With the Coppa Italia, this wonderful discipline unites different territories from a tourist-cultural, environmental, economic, and social perspective. Our hope is that the Coppa Italia can grow over time, becoming an essential appointment in the national and international cycling landscape," stated Massimiliano Fedriga, President of the Conference of Regions and Autonomous Provinces.

"Today's awards ceremony is an important moment to celebrate the athletes and the winning team of the first edition of this prestigious competition: cycling is passion, sacrifice, tenacity, and fun - values that are very similar to the commitment that local and regional decision-makers put daily into protecting and enhancing the territories of our wonderful Country. At the same time, beyond being a great honor, it is for the Professional Cycling League a spur to always do better looking towards 2025 and the important milestones we have set for the development and growth of the professional cycling movement," continued Roberto Pella, President of the Professional Cycling League.

The athletes and the team receiving recognition were those at the top of the five different classifications, drawn up at the end of the 4 stages that were part of the new competition: Davide de Pretto, first in both the "individual" and "young" classifications, dedicated to under-25 athletes; Giulio Ciccone, leading the "combativeness" classification, established through the judgment of an expert commission; and Davide Piganzoli, for "best climber", a classification based on the order of passage or climbing time of the mountain passes present in the race route. VF Group Bardiani-CSF Faizané is the team that conquered the top of the "team classification", determined by the sum of points awarded to the 3 first riders of each team for each race. The Challenge is reserved for UCI WorldTeam, Italian UCI ProTeam, or those whose sporting nationality is defined as Italian by the UCI, or that have a majority of Italian riders at the time of UCI registration.

Additionally, UCI Continental Teams registered in Italy can be admitted to the Challenge, provided they have riders included in the CONI RTP or who adhere to the program called "biological passport" or "federal ranking". Sport, but also promotion of territories, healthy lifestyles, health, and intergenerational relationships: this is what the Coppa Italia Regioni wants to be, which will return in 2025 with a broader edition and the goal of uniting the entire Peninsula.
