On Sunday, December 15th, at the Forum of Banca Alta Toscana in Vignole di Quarrata in the province of Pistoia, the assembly of Tuscan societies of the Italian Cycling Federation will take place. There should be no surprises for the election of the president as the only candidate for this role is Luca Menichetti, a civil lawyer from Florence, former rider, then national race judge, later a member of the Sports Court of Appeal of the FCI, and finally in his past, also the role of regional cycling sports judge. No surprises also regarding the names of the four candidate councilors, all from Menichetti's team, namely Massimo Fogli, Andrea Diolaiuti, Andrea Fefè, and the unfortunate former rider Samuele Manfredi, a promise and talent of Italian cycling, victim of a serious road accident in 2018 that precluded his career as an athlete. The only uncertainty is about the vice presidents as there are three candidates for two positions. The two candidates from Luca Menichetti's team are Gaia Passerini from Siena, who was part of the Promotion Commission for cycling within the Cycling Federation in the last four years, and Federico Micheli from Pisa who held the role of Regional Councilor for 4 years in the Committee chaired by Saverio Metti. The other candidate for regional vice presidency is Mauro Renzoni, who held this role (vicarious) from 2021 to 2024.
Another expected data point of Sunday's assembly in Vignole di Quarrata will be the number of societies present with voting rights and how many votes the presidential candidate Luca Menichetti will receive. First assembly call at 8:30 AM, the second at 10 AM. After the appointment of assembly bodies and the Scrutiny Commission, the approval of the management report of the Regional Committee presented by outgoing president Saverio Metti is expected. Following the elections of the president, two vice presidents and four councilors, then the scrutiny operations of the ballots for the election of delegates to the national assembly on January 19th in Fiumicino, representing athletes and technicians, voted in the provincial assemblies held in Tuscany.
