Il danese Mads Pedersen ha vinto allo sprint la prima tappa del Circuit de la Sarthe, la Mamers-Mamers di 192 km, regolando allo sprint un ruppetto di attaccanti che ha caratterizzato con la sua azioen la seconda metà della frazione. Alle spalle del portacolori della Trek Segafredo si sono piazzati mell'ordine i francesi Cosnefroy e Zingle con Filippo Ganna - oggi al rientro agonistico dopo i problemi fisici - che ha chiuso in quinta posizione.
"Fin dall'inizio della stagione, era nei miei piani quell di correre dopo le Fiandre. Il mio allenatore ha pensato che fosse una buona idea e ho accettato. In questo modo, posso fare più gare e poi avere solo un blocco di allenamento prima di Roubaix- ha spiegato Pedersen -. È stata una giornata dura e lunga, e il tempo non è stato molto bello. Non è stato facile vincere ma siamo riusciti a conquistare un successo importante».
