As part of its strategic ONE 2024–2030 plan, DECATHLON CMA CGM team is taking a significant step in its development with the creation of a women's squad, starting from the 2027 season. Supported by title partners DECATHLON and CMA CGM, principal partner Van Rysel, and official partners Adecco and SHINE by Cegid, this project reflects the shared ambition to promote equality and sporting excellence. The women's team will become part of the NewGen program, directed by Guillaume Bonnafond, which already includes Junior and Continental squads.
Based in La Motte-Servolex, Savoy, the team operates its own Performance Center, making training one of the pillars of its development strategy. In close collaboration with the French Cycling Federation and its president Michel Callot, the team will thus contribute to the growth of a new generation of female athletes, guiding them toward the highest levels of world cycling.
The team will begin its journey in the ProTeam category, the second tier of international cycling. Composed of 12 riders, the squad will be supported by an experienced staff that will include, among others, a sports director, a coach, two sports assistants, two mechanics, a doctor, a physiotherapist, a nutritionist, and athletic and mental performance specialists. The team will also benefit from shared resources with the men's structure, thus having access to all the expertise of the Performance Center. Like the men's WorldTour squad, the women's team will be equipped by Van Rysel. This organization has been designed to offer athletes the highest level of support, in line with the performance and development standards promoted by DECATHLON CMA CGM.
Dominique Serieys, General Director of Decathlon Cycling Team, stated: "The launch of our women's team represents a decisive milestone in the development of our strategic project. It fully aligns with our desire to build a reference point in the world of cycling, valuing the diversity of talent and promoting a shared ambition. This new team continues the path we have begun and further strengthens our structure. Its objective is to enable a new generation of female athletes to reach the highest competitive level and establish themselves sustainably over time. It also responds to the shared ambition of our shareholder and our partners."
These are the words of Guillaume Bonnafond, director of the NewGen program: "Our ProTeam women's squad project has entered the final phase of its launch. Building on the NewGen program model, we want to bridge the gap that separates youth categories from the WorldTour, the highest level of world cycling.
Our philosophy is based on training and talent discovery: we want to offer young female athletes from road cycling, cyclocross, and mountain biking an ideal environment to foster their sporting growth. The objective is to build a solid and lasting team, capable of reaching the WorldTour circuit in the coming years."
