Luke Lamperti is the winner of the first stage of Paris – Nice. At the conclusion of the 170 kilometers scheduled for the stage starting from Achères and finishing in Carrières-sous-Poissy, the EF Education - EasyPost athlete beat Vito Braet, Belgian from Lotto Intermarchè, and Orluis Aular, Venezuelan from Movistar, in a sprint. Milan Fretin from Cofidis and Biniam Girmay from NSN Cycling Team crossed the finish line next. Not far from the best was Matteo Trentin from Tudor Pro Cycling Team who finished in twelfth position.
For the record, in the final kilometer, several athletes were involved in two separate crashes and hit the ground.
The protagonists of the day were the attackers Casper Pedersen (Soudal Quick-Step), Luke Durbridge (Team Jayco AlUla), Patrick Gamper (Team Jayco AlUla), Max Walker (EF Education – EasyPost), Mathis Le Berre (TotalEnergies) and Sébastien Grignard (Lotto Intermarchè) who were brave and long in the breakaway. The peloton, launched at speed towards the finish line, neutralized their attack just three kilometers from the line.
