The opening time trial of the Vuelta a Extremadura goes to Zoe Bäckstedt. The 21-year-old British rider claimed her first victory of the season for Team CANYON//SRAM zondacrypto, completing the 18-kilometre course in the surroundings of Herrera del Duque in 24 minutes and 30 seconds, averaging 45 km/h.

Behind the younger of the Bäckstedt sisters, Brodie Chapman and Maeva Squiban both of UAE Team ADQ finished in that order. The Australian was 12 seconds down, while the young French rider took third place, 17 seconds back. Vittoria Guazzini finished ninth in the standings, losing 49 seconds to the winner.
