On paper, it was supposed to be one of the easiest stages of this edition of the Vuelta Feminina, but the 132.4 km from Barbastro to Huesca did not fail to challenge several athletes in the group. The day began immediately with the withdrawal of three athletes: Chloe Dygert (Canyon Sram), Georgia Baker (Liv Alula Jayco), Laura Lizerre Sander (Team Coop Repsol).
Most of the day was characterized by an attack by 5 athletes: Maikee Colje (Arkea, B&B Hotels Women), Marion Borras (Cofidis Women Team), Magdalene Lind (Team Coop Repsol), Marina Garau (Be Pink Imatra Bongioanni), Ariana Gilabert (Eneicat CMTeam) who managed to gain up to 1'22" advantage over the group where Visma Lease a Bike took responsibility for the chase. The 5 escapees were caught 33 km from the finish line.
The race heated up 30 km from the finish when, after the intermediate sprint won by Femke Gerritse (Sd Worx Protime), the sprinters' teams definitively went into action taking advantage of the strong crosswind. The group broke up multiple times due to the creation of echelons, forcing many athletes to chase.
