The number one favorite appears to be the Dutch Nienke Vinke, vice world champion in Montreal and a time trial specialist. Her main rival will be Slovak Viktoria Chladonova, silver medalist in the recent continental road race and world road champion, increasingly prominent on the international stage.

Also highly regarded is Belgian Febe Jooris, who will have to contend with top-level competition composed of German Justyna Czapla, fellow Dutch rider Megan Arens, Spanish Paula Ostiz, Swiss Mara Winter, fresh European champion in the road race, Austrian Tabea Huys and Norwegian Oda Aune Gissinger.
