Moments of great fear during the last training session for Dylan Groenewegen. The Dutch sprinter, who this year has achieved four victories wearing the Unibet Rose Rockets jersey, was indeed hit by a motorcyclist who, at a roundabout near Uithoorn, failed to yield the right of way, resulting in an impact against the unfortunate rider from Amsterdam.
As highlighted by Wielerflits, the thirty-four-year-old former Jayco AlUla rider got off in this instance with "only" a muscle strain to the ribs which, based on how much pain he will experience in the coming hours and how his body will react, could even allow him to return to racing rather quickly: the fact remains that the consequences, considering the dynamics of the accident and the impact he was involved in, could have been far more serious.
Certainly, the scare for Groenewegen was not lacking and he would definitely have done without this setback just days before his next scheduled commitment, the GP de Fourmies, a race for which, at this point, his participation is seriously in doubt.
