Elena Miglioranza is doing better, the sixteen-year-old unfortunate protagonist of the racing accident that occurred on Sunday in Bavaria di Nervesa. Her father Andrea, president of Sorgente Pradipozzo, explained to Tina Ruggeri of Il Gazzettino: «I spoke with the doctors in the intensive care unit. The situation is very promising. According to the radiographic exams and CT scan, Elena has not suffered any fractures. After a night of therapy during which she was sedated, yesterday morning she was awakened, responded to all stimuli, moved and spoke. She remains intubated, however, and today she will undergo an MRI to assess any potential damage to her cervical vertebrae. If necessary, she will be fitted with a collar or at most plates to stabilize her neck, but we can say that the worst is over».

He continued: «I want to thank the entire medical staff at Ca' Foncello Hospital in Treviso for how they are caring for my daughter, doctors and nurses with the highest professionalism. And I would like to meet and thank the anesthesiologist, a woman who happened to be right at the site of Elena's fall and who in just a few seconds was able to manage the situation, ensure that Elena continued to breathe, intubated her with great professionalism, saving my daughter's life in those hectic moments».

THE ACCIDENT. Elena was competing in the race reserved for junior women, during the seventeenth Ernesto Pavan cycling trophy organized by the Young Team Arcade sports group, also valid for the regional championship title for the beginner and junior women categories. Eight kilometers from the finish line, Elena swerved with her handlebars after going over a bump. An experienced cyclocross rider, she ended up directly against the curb of the sidewalk and a linden tree on the roadside. Immediately assisted by the race medical ambulance and stabilized, she was airlifted to Ca' Foncello Hospital in Treviso in critical condition and admitted to intensive care.
