Another tragedy, another life cut short, another cyclist victim of an accident on the roads of Trentino. It happened in the early afternoon today in Lavis, along the provincial road that crosses the Pressano hill. A 14-year-old girl - Adele Cobelli, an athlete with Asd Bike Movement Trentino Erbe, competing in the Junior category particularly in off-road cycling - a resident of the town itself, lost her life after being involved in a serious accident while riding her bicycle.
The alarm was raised just before 1 p.m. in a stretch of road leading towards the farmhouses of the hamlet. From what has emerged so far, the girl was cycling down the road in a downhill section when she was hit head-on by a car traveling uphill. The impact was violent: the young girl was thrown over the guardrail and suffered serious injuries.
The emergency services responded very quickly with an ambulance, helicopter, volunteer firefighters from Lavis and local police officers: unfortunately for the girl there was nothing that could be done and her death was confirmed directly at the scene of the accident.
Another tragedy that brings to mind other similar incidents, such as those that claimed the lives of Matteo Lorenzi (May 2024) and Sara Piffer (January 2025).
FEDERATION. To honor Adele's memory, the Italian Cycling Federation has ordered that a minute of silence be observed tomorrow before all races.
