The cycling world can breathe a sigh of relief. The serious crash involving Urska Zigart in the final stretch of today's Tour de Suisse stage had sent shivers down everyone's spine, but overall the Slovenian cyclist got off relatively lightly.
Her team, AG Insurance - Soudal, has just issued a press release reassuring everyone about the condition of the Slovenian cyclist, teammate of Tadej Pogacar. "Following the crash that occurred in the final kilometre of the second stage of the Tour de Suisse Women, Urška Žigart was immediately assisted by the race medical team and the team doctor, before being transferred to hospital for further examinations. After undergoing several medical tests, Urška was diagnosed with a fractured jaw. Fortunately, no other injuries were detected during the examinations - the team statement reads. - The team's medical staff is currently evaluating the next steps to ensure that Urška receives the best possible treatment and an optimal recovery path. At this stage, our absolute priority is her health and wellbeing. We wish to thank the race medical staff, hospital personnel and all those who have sent messages of support following the incident.
