In the year when A.S. Aurora, the organizing society celebrating its 80th anniversary having been founded in 1946, the 79th Florence-Viareggio national classic for elite and under 23 riders scheduled for next August 15th changes its route for three quarters of its entire length.
An authentic revolution with the exclusion above all of the province of Pistoia. The Ferragosto race organized logistically by the Pistoia Motorcyclists Group presided over by Stefano Curradi will indeed go through the Empoli area, the Montalbano region, and the province of Pisa before returning to the province of Lucca with an identical finale and the challenging Pedona climb 16 km from the finish line located on the Viareggio seafront at Piazza Mazzini where last year the local rider Tommaso Dati triumphed.
The novelties of the Florence-Viareggio were illustrated by the current Aurora president, Massimo Sandrelli in the Sassoli Media Center Hall of Palazzo del Pegaso in Florence, where colleague Luca Giannelli presented the book on the society's 80 years, with the presence of the Regional Council president Stefania Saccardi, the sports assessor of the Municipality of Florence Letizia Perini, the president of the Tuscany Regional Cycling Committee Luca Menichetti, the president of the Florence committee Mario Mecacci, Daniele Grazi, Francesco Zingoni, representatives of the Ristori family and the Sworn Guards Corps, the first sponsor of this prestigious event. The race enjoys the patronage of the Tuscany Region and the municipalities of Florence and Viareggio.
